Just saw this article featuring JoJo. She has spoken before of being bullied in school here in town, so I have to wonder if things have changed for our kids and students.
JoJo has it right in that she is having the last laugh. While it might be difficult for her to create true friendships now, she at least knows who in town is not her friend and would only serve to create a friendship for less than honorable purposes. Kids can be mean, but saying “you’ll never get there” is not a sign of friendship – friends support and encourage you and sometimes even say “well, you could use some more practice” but they should not discourage you from your dreams (unless you dream of doing something illegal or that would harm you).
Marian Anderson stated, “No matter how big a nation is, it is no stronger that its weakest people, and as long as you keep a person down, some part of you has to be down there to hold him down, so it means you cannot soar as you might otherwise.”
Henry Ward Beecher stated, “Greatness lies not in being strong, but in the right use of strength.”
